about us

an indie publisher with history and ambition

who we are

Small, yet mighty.

Scotland Street Press is a small, independent publisher of fiction, history, poetry, biography and translation based in Edinburgh. But our size and our independence give us the freedom to champion stories we believe need to be told and voices that need to be heard.

Our literary provenance.

The history of our publishing house gives us substance and has left us embedded in literary heritage. We have grown out of literary tradition, which we take seriously but wear lightly, with the confidence in who we are to explore new things. Scotland Street Press is small but mighty: as at home on the international stage as we are your local indie bookshop.

voices

green typewriters in a row

Giving a voice to unique authors.

We celebrate individuality, prioritise women’s writing and continually seek to include more diverse authors. We publish interesting, varied, challenging voices who have good stories to tell, and in doing so bring Scotland into an international conversation. We are brave and take risks by publishing new and unheard voices.
