Join Julian Evans, author of Undefeatable: Odesa in Love and War and Michael Sheridan as they debate fascinating aspects of current affairs and contemporary geopolitics, chaired by Dominic Lees.

Julian Evans is the author of Undefeatable, an important and potentially game-changing memoir about Ukraine. Julian is British journalist with Ukrainian children and wife who has lived in Ukraine for the last 30 years. He predicted the war back in 2009 and has lots of ideas about what is next for the country, and why he thinks they are 'undefeatable'.

Michael Sheridan is the author of The Red Emperor: Xi Jinping and his New China by (pub August 2024), a fascinating and compulsively readable portrait of one of the most powerful figures in the world, and an excellent primer on modern China and its role on the global stage. It touches on everything from Covid to corruption, Xi’s upbringing in 20th century China to purges and corruption in the modern day.

A veteran journalist with decades of first hand experience reporting on China and the Far East, including as the Sunday Times Far East correspondent – he’s particularly versed in helping general audiences understand the nuances of Chinese politics and how China is shaping the modern world.
