Scotland Street Press is delighted to invite you to the launch of Janet McGiffin’s Empress Irini Series, a four-part historical fiction saga set in the Roman Empire of the East, centred on Irini of Athens, one of only two women to have ruled in their own right in Roman and Byzantine history.
The book launch and signing will take place at the Clore Library in The University Church of St Mary the Virgin on the 18th of October. Alongside the author, there will be a panel of guests, including Jean Fraser, Head of Publishing at Scotland Street Press, Susan Apostolakis, legal translator for an Athens law firm and author of “Byzantine Cooking for the Modern Cook” and Katerina Apostolaki, diplomatic translator and member of the Advisory Board for the AIIC.
Attendance, which includes wine or a non-alcoholic alternative, is free, and guests will also be given the opportunity to purchase books from the series, as well as limited edition woodcut prints of designs featured inside the book.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP with your name and how many places you would like to reserve to alex@scotlandstreetpress.com.
